The little base Stellina Diving is situated since September 2008 on the premises of the Hotel Las Cayenas (formerly Kanesh-Hotel), situated directly at the beautiful white sandy beach of Las Terrenas.

Las Terrenas on the peninsula Samana was able to beware its original character, because it lies far away from the international airports of the Dominican Republic. We are curious, which influence will have the airport on Las Terrenas, opened in November 2006. The beach of Las Terrenas keeps all the common clichés of the tropics. Some thousands of coconut palms create the background of the crystal-clear sea and the bright white strand. On the peninsula Samana grows the biggest integral palm forest in the world.
All hotels rise only a little from the top of the trees and are always of manageable size.
Around the diving-school, there are hotels of each category and nice apartments too, in which you can rent comfortable rooms.
Almost every hotel organizes trips to the national park «Los Haitises» nearby. Millions of sea-birds choose the park for brooding. Under water, in the mangroves, numeros fishes are growing and in the caves of the park, there are traces of the native people of Hispaniola. The park is visited rather from nature-freaks; those, who expect a lot of spectacular things to do, maybe will be disappointed.
From December to March, different tour-organizators are offering humpback whale-watching-tours. Starting point is Samana in the south of the peninsula.
It still exists, the original Dominican Republic. Around Las Terrenas there is a good opportunity to find it (still).
